The best part of making sweet treats in your own kitchen is that sometimes that best things are also the simplest! Lately, we’ve been enamoured with the idea of making delicious things with only a few ingredients, so we’ve been delving into the world of three-ingredient desserts and exploring as much as we can (much to our family’s delight).
Just in case you love the idea of making wonderful tasting sweets with only three simple ingredients just as much as we do, if not more, here are 15 of the best recipes we’ve bookmarked to try so far in our exploits!
1. Mini meringues
Don’t get us wrong, we loved full sized meringues too, but there’s just something so charm and adorable about these miniature meringues that they had our hearts (and tummies) the moment we laid eyes on them! See how they’re made using only egg whites, sugar, and vanilla on Family, Food, and Travel.
2. Coconut caramels
Caramel is delicious. Coconut is delicious. What could possible go wrong? We adored the idea of making coconut caramels because that was actually a flavour combination we’d never heard of before, so we couldn’t help wanting to try it immediately. Take a better look at the recipe on A Mom’s Take to find out how they’re made using caramel squares, white chocolate chips, and shaved coconut.
3. DIY peach sherbert
You read that right; you can absolutely make your own uniquely flavoured iced treats using only three ingredients as well! Peaches are actually one of our very favourite foods overall, so imagine how excited we were when we saw the way Like Mother, Like Daughter made this flavourful peach sorbet using only chopped peaches, half and half cream, and white sugar.
4. Homemade coconut ice cream
Did we really catch your attention when we started talking about deliciously unique homemade ice cream flavours but peaches have just never really been your thing? In that case, maybe you’d prefer the slightly lighter taste of coconut instead! Get the full details for making The Kitchen is My Playground‘s recipe in their tutorial, which shows you how to combine whipping cream or heavy cream, cream of coconut, and sweetened coconut flakes.
5. No-bake brownie bites
As if the idea of making a delicious batch of treats using only three ingredients wasn’t awesome enough, this recipe from Chelsea’s Messy Apron shows you how to do it without even needing to bake anything! Their recipe outlines these wonderful no-bake brownie bites made solely using brownie mix, unsalted butter, and miniature chocolate chips. If you really want to, you can add an easy fourth ingredient by rolling the bites in powdered sugar for a sweet outer coating.
6. Quick peanut butter cookies
The process of making cookies is usually pretty standard and, even though we know what goes in them usually, we’re always surprised to hear that other people make different kinds using different things! We just got so in the habit of making our family’s signature chocolate chip recipe that sometimes we forget about awesome things like these three ingredient peanut butter cookies. Barefeet in The Kitchen outlines how to make them using sugar, peanut butter, and an egg.
7. Crunchy Nutella cookies
Did we really catch your attention with the idea of making simple 3-ingredient cookies but you’ve never been a huge peanut butter fan? Maybe chocolate is just your number one favourite thing. In either case, we’d absolutely suggest taking a look at how Cookpad made these delicious crunchy Nutella cookies using Nutella, flour, and eggs.
8. Bacon waffles with powdered sugar
That’s right, you can even make full meal things using only three ingredients! These deliciously unique waffles are the perfect example of what we mean. Okay, so you have to put water in the waffle mix too, but that doesn’t count!

They show you how to make it happen using only chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.
11. 3-ingredient banana bread
Are you loving the idea of 3-ingredient baked goods a lot but, even though you want something sweet, you’re hoping to steer clear of things that are quite as sweet as some of the things you’ve seen so far on our list? In that case, we’d definitely suggest taking a look at how Embellishmints made this fragrant banana bread using yellow cake mix, eggs, and overripe bananas. If you actually do want to make yours a little sweeter, you might add a fourth yummy ingredient: chocolate chips!
12. 3-ingredient Nutella brownies
Just in case you were rather intrigued by the brownie bites but you’ve never liked the texture of no-bake things very much, here’s a fantastic recipe for baked brownies that’s a 3-ingredient recipe as well! Add a fourth ingredient in the form of chocolate chips if you want them really chocolatey.
13. 3-ingredient lemon cookies

In that case, we think you’ll get along much better indeed with these delicious lemon cookies from Somewhat Simple, made from lemon cake mix, Cool Whip topping, and an egg.
14. Flourless chocolate cake
A lot of the 3-ingredient baked dessert recipes you’ll find out there are heavy on flour, especially if they’re something that’s usually made to have a spongey texture, but what if you’d rather avoid the flour, perhaps for dietary reasons? In that case, we’d definitely suggest taking a look at how Kirbie’s Kravings made this delicious flourless chocolate cake using eggs, semi sweet or milk chocolate chips, and unsalted butter.
15. Hershey Kiss S’more cookies
If you’re going to make something delicious from only three ingredients, would you rather make it something so good that it harnesses the flavour of more than one treat at once, even in its simplicity?
