It’s been nearly four months since the last episode of Game of Thrones aired and we still have eight months of waiting to do. The hiatus is unbearably long and once you’ve already re-watched all seasons about six times, read every single fan theory that exists on the internet and have either read the books or are still too lazy to pick them up … what else is there to do?! If only there was something else we could indulge in, to satisfy our hunger for Game of Thrones! How about some crafting? Now is as good a time as any to look at these 12 Game of Thrones crafts that will help you survive the hiatus!
1. House Banners
You cannot call yourself a loyalist to a House unless you have their banner! You can make all of them and honor all the great families, but let’s be honest; we all know you’re just going to make a bunch of Stark banners and hope for their victory in season 7! It’s fine by us! Find the tutorial at Hola Sara!
2. Dragon Eggs
Get yourself some dragon eggs like a true Targaryen! Their vivid colors will have you staring at them, wondering if they might just hatch?! Make sure nobody steals them from you and while we believe this goes without saying, don’t walk into a fire with them! You’re not a Khaleesi! Do, however, check out Mark Montano’s how-to!
3. House Blanket
The great Houses and their famous words, all on display on this incredible blanket! If you are a die-hard fan, you cannot pass this one up! Show your loyalty to the world of Westeros and make yourself this blanket – we can’t guarantee you sweet dreams, but we can guarantee awesome instructions you can find at Ravelry!
4. Grilling Plate
A little twist on the famous winter is coming line! Seeking comfort in food is always a good idea, so why not make a grilling plate you can fill with delicious food while you wait for the hiatus to be over! Bre Pea tells us this is also a fantastic idea for a Father’s Day gift!
5. Stark Sigil Necklace
House Stark is almost everyone’s favorite. And even if they’re not your favorite (team Daenerys, anyone?) you still totally want them to succeed, because we can all agree they’ve been put through enough! Show a little love for them and wear their sigil as a necklace, in the hopes of better times for this unfortunate family! Artzie Rush has all the details!
6. The Iron Throne
Who doesn’t want an iron throne all for themselves? We all do! But until we make it to King’s Landing, this DIY iron throne by Damn Good Shindig will have to do! It will make you feel like the queen or king of the seven kingdoms and you will instantly feel more powerful! Just please don’t take Joffrey as your role model, okay?
7. Daenerys Costume
This Halloween, transform into the mother of dragons. Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea. The unburnt. The breaker of chains. Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen. Okay, you get the point! We promise you, making of this costume will take less time than saying her full name with all of her titles. Natasha Rose will show you how!
8. Book End
How about a dire wolf book end?! I mean, you need something epic to hold those gigantic books right? Mad Stuff with Rob has a really great tutorial that will result in one of the coolest book ends you have ever seen! Once you’ve got this covered, you can go and buy even more books! Hurrah!
9. Dragon Mobile
Sure, we all love Jon Snow, but let’s just admit that dragons are our favorite characters! They are just overall epic and every time they get some screen time, we’re all holding our breaths! This dragon mobile is perfect for anyone who can’t get enough of these creatures! The instructions are waiting for you at Krafty Kath!
10. Quote Painting
The show is full of deep, chilling quotes that can serve as inspiration to you when deciding on your wall art! The Geeky Peacock made an amazing paining with Melisandre’s famous words. Play yourself some Game of Thrones soundtrack as you’re making this one and the dark, creepy atmosphere will be perfect!
11. Mother of Dragons Necklace
This one will go perfectly with your Daenerys costume from #7! Show your loyalty to House Targaryen by wearing this necklace with the utmost pride and determination! It’s a great opportunity to be really creative, as the tutorial itself offers a lot of different ways to customize it! Check out Nerds and Nomsense and see for yourself!
12. Cersei Lannister Costume
(After seeing the last episode of season 6 we’re kind of afraid to leave Cersei out of this roundup. We don’t want to upset her and make things go kaboom). This lovely costume comes from Wholesale Halloween Costumes and is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to crash a Halloween party dressed as a strong, ambitious, protective woman with a biiiit of homicidal tendencies.
Hopefully you are now hiatus ready! Tell us in the comments which one of these crafts is your favorite and who you’d like to see on the iron throne!
