  • Coneflower As Amazing as You Are

When I saw the new Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers Coneflower I immediately went and purchase it. I loved the look of this layered flower. I cut all the layers and leaves from white cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. The die does not come with stems and I wanted to add them to the flowers for this card, so I pulled out the stems from the Altenew Craft-a-Flower Cosmos and cut them from white cardstock and colored them the same as the leaves. It is easy to assemble the flowers, you ju

  • Easter and more!

Hello! Sooooo glad the weekend is here! Wishing you an early Happy St. Patrick's Day, too. Believe it or not, we're heading for a Mexican restaurant tomorrow, and staying clear of the Irish pubs. It gets a little wild in there on this Irish holiday! I've got a bunch of cards to share today, including several Easter cards. Here we go: The first one has a Chocolate Bunny die from Memory Box, cut from dark brown damask paper. He's so pretty! I die cut two wreaths using the Memory Box / Poppystamps Breezy Wreath die. I layered them together, and let the top one hang over the edge a bit, then added some pearls. The paper is by Prima, I think. The stamped 'Easter Greetings' sentiment is from Flourishes He Is Risen set. The Baby Bunny below is from Inkadinkado; the sentiment is from Wplus9's Easter Blessings set. Up next: a polka dot thank you card using patterned paper from Papertrey Ink. The little strip of cardstock beneath the book page pattern paper is a dull golden shimmer; it matches the polka dot paper quite well. The felt flowers are from Stampin' Up! from years ago. The bold sentiment is from My Favorite Things All Occasion Sentiments. Next up, two sprigs of moss green die cut leaves (My Favorite Things) are tied with gold/cream twine on this soft monochromatic birthday card. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. On this sympathy card, the dry embossed panel, and the die cut butterfly, were in a Stampin' Up! Scrap Bag. They're beautiful, even more so in person. My demonstrator used gold embossing powder, I believe, on that embossed panel. Hard to see it in the photos. Below, the spring birthday sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Spring Hills set. I tucked a little scrap of lace behind the sentiment tab, and added a little rhinestone there, too. Another Easter card below, using Avery Elle Happy Spring stamp set for the sentiment, tan stamped wreath, and tone on tone rosy red silhouette bunnies leaping across the bottom of the card. I die cut a Memory Box / Poppystamps Breezy Wreath and layered it outside the sentiment circle. These gold-embossed flowers and the dry embossed panel were in a Stampin' Up! Scrap Bag. I topped the panel with some lace, a paper gardenia, pearls and scattered sequins. Next is a psychedelic card. Look at that crazy Stampin' Up! patterned paper! Found it in a scrap bag, and challenged myself to use it in some way. I pretended it's kitchen wallpaper LOL, and set a teapot scene in front of it. I had two flowers already punched out - one in shimmery white, the other in mirror gold- and added them to the teapot. The pot sits upon a doily die cut from white cardstock, and that in turn is atop a rosy coral hued 'tablecloth'. The card below was a Valentine for my husband in 2017. Something different! I used the bear from Essentials By Ellen All Inside stamp set, a bee from Avery Elle Storybook, and a ransom-style sentiment from Blockheads Paper Arts ATC Honey Bees. The trees are stickers from Jolee's Boutique. The grass is greener where this bear stands! It feels good too, in such a beautiful shade of green felt. This little guy got a shiny nose, thanks to some Glossy Accents glue. Thanks so much for coming by today. Time to go for a walk with my favorite guy. Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Leftovers Birthday Card

I just couldn't resist! I used the leftovers from the card I posted four days ago, and made a simply designed birthday card... I had used striped paper strips to make a background for my card four days ago. There were a couple inches of stripes left, so I got out my much loved Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday die and die cut the sentiment from the rainbow striped paper. I layered it, then used the new Simon Says Stamp "Happy" die, from the newest STAMPtember® release, and die cut six "happys"... yes, you read right...only six die cuts...NO LAYERS on the "happys"!! I had made a card with the same idea a little over a year ago, but used a "HAPPY" stamp stamped with versa mark and clear embossed. This "happy" die is so cute, all the letters are attached, and it just "fit" this Birthday die cut!! I lined them up, adhering from the top...DOWN three, then starting at the bottom, and adhering from the bottom, UP three...leaving just enough room in the middle for the "BIRTHDAY". Here's a close up... Never overlook leftovers...so much fun!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

  • Taylored Expressions - Easter Cards

Hello, friends! Holy Week is upon us, and I am preparing to send out Easter cards to my family and friends. I was happy to get a chance to play with two different sets of Easter stamps from Taylored Expressions. Let's get right to it! My first two cards feature the "Spring Wreath" Layering Stencil and coordinating dies (for one version). The sentiment on the outside of the card is from the "Handlettered Easter" set, stamped in black ink and then embossed with diamond embossing powder for some sparkle. The Bits and Pieces Drip Drops were the perfect finishing touch. The wooden plank background is an Impression Obsession image stamped using Hero Arts Soft Wheat ink. All other inks used in these projects are from Taylored Expressions. The next version of this card is the same as the first, except this time I die cut the wreath and popped it up on black foam for dimension. Inside the cards, I added a sentiment from the "The Inside Scoop - Easter Blessings" set. How versatile! I love this stamp set so much! __________________________________________________________________________ For my second trio of cards, I used the same sentiment sets noted above, but this time I designed the card base around the "Third Day Border" die and "Here Comes the Sun" stencil. Using a variety of TE inks and some masking, stenciling, and in some cases paper-piecing, I came up with three different versions of a similar card design. I can't decide which I like best! On this version, I used a glitter pen to add glitter to the sun rays...a very subtle effect. All of these cards have this sentiment on the inside... I hope those of you who celebrate it have a very blessed Holy Week and a glorious Easter. Thanks, as always, for stopping by! Judy

  • Stampin' Up! Large Letters birthday card

A few weeks ago I featured this card on my blog: I made the card above for one of my very best friends who shares my passion for papercrafting and cardmaking. Then last week it was my daughter's 20th birthday so I decided to CASE the card and make a version in different colours for her: Luckily her name has only 5 letters which fitted perfectly on the card. I went with brighter colours for this card - Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise. I also used a coloured card blank and mounted a white panel on top which I think added something extra. Since my original post, a few people have asked for a tutorial, so today I have recorded that and you can find the link below. I decided to try yet another different colourway and this time went with So Saffron, Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist. I think this one is my favourite - such delicate, pretty colours!. Here is the link to the video tutorial - let me know what you think! And here are all three together - which is your favourite? Will be back soon - lots of other projects to show you! • Scrap Busting!

Hey! So yesterday I said I had some fun things on the way using up scraps. Today I'd like to share the first one with you! It also involves some weaving - my new favourite technique. This one uses up scraps from the brights collection so its incredibly bright and vibrant and super fun! Stamp Set: Peaceful Moments Ink: Bermuda Bay Cardstock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Mango Melody, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape Punch: Story Label Accessories: Brights Candy Dots (retired) In sorting out my scraps I found lots of thin strips of card that I thought I could use for something but they gradually accumulate and I don't use them as much as I should, its always so much quicker and easier to cut up a new piece than wade through the scrap box for something that will fit. So, I used a few of these scraps as is, and some I cut much thinner so that I had different widths ranging from about 5mm up to 3cm. Once I had a bunch cut up I began to weave. Getting the first couple vertical and horizontal ones in place is the most difficult. After those are in place, the tension created is substantial enough to keep the strips in place as they were woven in. When I was happy with the placement - trying to vary the colours and strip widths so that it looked pretty random - I added tombow to the back of the strips and glued it down to a piece of Whisper White. I then went around all the edges gluing all the ends of the strips down. I matted it on some Bermuda Bay card and added it to a white card base. I thought a simple white label punch would be best for the sentiment - to try and act as a balance to the vibrant colours. I stamped in Bermuda Bay because I thought it would tie together the matting, weaving and sentiment layers quite nicely - I think that bit of consistency really works. What do you think? In the spirit of using up scraps, I found some candy dots that have been retired a long while but haven't got used up yet, so I popped a few around the sentiment just to add a little more colour to the sentiment layer. I hope you've enjoyed this scrap buster! I'm for sure going to be making more of these and I have some other scrap busting ideas up my sleeve to show you over the coming days. Stay tuned. Take care,
