  • Silk ribbon embroidery tutorial - Lazy daisy flowers

Silk ribbon lazy daisy stitch is made just like you do in lazy daisy flower embroidery. Find where you want to start the flower stitch. This will be the bottom of the petal, nearest to the centre of the flower. Bring your needle and silk ribbon through the fabric from the back to the front. The position of this first puncture will be the center of your embroidered flower. Make a loop and put the needle back in right next to where you came out. Position your needle right next to your first puncture , and push it from the front to the back of your fabric.Gently hold in place with thumb while sliding needle and ribbon through. Without pulling your silk ribbon all the way through, leave a loop on the front side of your fabric that is the desired size of your flower’s petal. This will be your stitch, or petal, length. Position your needle at the outermost tip of your flower petal, and push your needle and silk ribbon from the back of the fabric to the front. Anchor the loop by bringing the silk ribbon back down just on the other side of the loop. For the next step come back up close to the first and repeat. Repeat steps until you have a complete flower. French knot stitch is very useful for little bits of texture that can be added to any embroidery design. The little knots for center of flowers look like pollen when done in yellow. Bring your needle and silk ribbon through the fabric from the back to the front. Now, place the needle close to the fabric. Wrap the silk ribbon around it twice,Take the needle close to the place where the needle came to the front. Insert the needle into the fabric and push down slowly. Gently tug ribbon to eliminate any slack .
